Does your chicken have saline breast implants?

According to this LA Times article, meat manufacturers are injecting their (chicken) breasts with saline to make them look juicier and more plump. And you thought girls in Hollywood had it bad…

What does this mean for you?

  • Increased sodium consumption, probably without your knowledge.
  • Less product for what you pay for (I’ve always wondered how my local supermarket has kept boneless, skinless chicken breasts at $1.99/lb for years).
  • And for me, continued loss of faith in the food industry.

Another reason to buy local or become vegetarian, friends!
